Updated: February 2021

On Christmas Eve 2020, the UK and EU agreed on a Brexit trade deal.

From 1st January 2021, the rules for importing from the UK changed.

EORI Number

  • An EORI number (Economic Operator Registration and Identification Number)  is a unique ID code used to track and register customs information in the EU.
  • Your EORI number will be unique to you and any business importing and exporting goods to the EU will need one.
  • To find out more and register for an EORI number please visit your national government website.

Buying Products From Something Different

  • You can still buy all the products you know and love from Something Different Wholesale in exactly the same way you do right now.
  • There will be no changes to the product prices or shipping costs from Something Different Wholesale on our invoices.
  • The only difference is that Something Different Wholesale will not be charging VAT on any invoices for orders outside the UK.

Duty Rates and Custom Charges

  • Under the agreement, the deal guarantees zero tariffs on goods however, this is only applicable to products made in the UK and EU. As an international importer, we source our products worldwide so duty rates will still apply.
  • Duty rates will vary by item but the average duty rate, using World Trade Organisation rules, will be approx. 4.3% for gift products.

Paying Customs Charges

  • To make things simple we have partnered with UPS as our ‘Customs Agent’.
  • UPS will contact you to let you know what customs duty you must pay and the goods will be delivered to you as normal.

  • Please note there may be customs charges applied in your country.

Paying VAT

  • There will no longer be VAT on any invoices from Something Different Wholesale.
  • You will now be governed by the tax rules of your country.
  • UPS will let you know what tax will be payable in your country as well as when you will have to pay it.
