Updated: January 2021

On Christmas Eve 2020, the UK and EU agreed on a Brexit trade deal.

From 1st January 2021, the rules for importing from the UK will change.

Have You Registered for an EORI Number?

  • In order to move goods between UK and Non-EU countries you will need an EORI (Economic Operator Registration and Identification) number. This will also apply if you move goods to or from Northern Ireland into mainland UK.
  • Your EORI number will be unique to you and is an ID code used to track and register customs information in the EU.
  • To find out more and register for an EORI number please visit your national government website.

Can I Still Buy From Something Different?

  • Absolutely and we hope you will continue to do so! You will still be able to buy all the products you know and love from Something Different Wholesale in exactly the same way you do right now.
  • There will be no changes to the product prices or shipping costs from Something Different Wholesale on our invoices.
  • The only difference is that Something Different Wholesale will not be charging VAT on any invoices for orders outside the UK.

What About Duty Rates?

  • Under the agreement, the deal guarantees zero tariffs on goods however, this is only applicable to products made in the UK and EU. As an international importer, we source our products worldwide so duty rates will still apply.
  • Duty rates will vary by item but the average duty rate, using World Trade Organisation rules, will be approx. 4.3% for gift products.

Paying Customs Charges

  • To make things simple we have partnered with UPS as our ‘Customs Agent’.
  • UPS will contact you to let you know what duty you must pay and the goods will be delivered to you as normal.

Paying VAT

  • There will no longer be VAT on any invoices from Something Different Wholesale.
  • You will now be governed by the tax rules of your country.
  • UPS will let you know what tax will be payable in your country as well as when you will have to pay it.
